I’ve worked with numerous architects in town and have fallen absolutely in love with their design process and unique visions. The way architects and designers organically create residences of all shapes and styles is not only intriguing to the client; it’s also a lot of fun for the agent helping shape the buyer’s dream. We have some mazing talents in the field of architecture in Austin, but one of my favorites is Chinese-American design dynamo Michael Hsu of Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. His office on Burnet Road, surrounded by cute industrial walls of bright rust red, serves as the design headquarters for his talented team. Hsu has been highlighted in numerous publications and is responsible for designing some of the trendiest restaurants in town.
About this project: This is one of my favorite projects from Michael and his team: a penthouse in the W Hotel Residences downtown. According to MHOA, it was designed to maximize both horizontal and vertical square footage. The cool decor goes perfectly with Austin’s gorgeous skyline. I really enjoyed how they incorporated warm materials of black walnut, white leather tile, and brushed bronze, to complement the modern interior. I loved how the firm brought in the playful and fun personality of the client through color and unique shapes throughout.
