The JW Marriott is not only on of the hippest new hotels downtown; it’s also the home of one of my favorite recent Italian dining experiences. From the wine, to the inventive dishes I was transported to an authentic, quality Italian experience at Osteria Pronto.
I was hesitant at first (after all it’s still a hotel restaurant) but was charmed by the hype and buzz of the lobby, which suddenly melts into a chic dining lounge. Music was nice and food looked great, so SCENE ventured into it.
It’s evident that the food is handcrafted with passion. Led by Chef Gilberto Ramirez, their team truly served a special culinary affair. Some good picks include their Salmon (served with yummy candied pumpkin seeds and mustard vinaigrette) and their Tagliatelle (from their pasta selections). Also, make it your mission to try their Tiramisu and to have one of their Nutella-filled Crepes.
Intimate, modern and very trendy, their decor was a close match to their sleek menu and I was specially taken by the rich wood finishes. (Lighting also makes for a great date night, ladies). The venue is available for private dining as well as groups, but my favorite part was probably its proximity to the busy corner of 2nd and Brazos (just to gaze out at the hustle an bustle of Downtown, while it was so nice inside give my experience a nice contrast).
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and their OP Wine Bar is a fun addition to your weekend roster. Indulge in some classy dishes and peruse this very chic hotel if you haven’t. Hope we cross paths downtown!
